Ethan Brewster
Founder of Fairdoc and Founding Student at the University of Austin
Manifesto
Ethan Brewster is a 19-year-old student at the University of Austin (UATX), part of its inaugural class dedicated to rethinking the traditional college model. He’s a builder by instinct, drawn to complex problems, broken systems, and the challenge of making them work better.Ethan is the founder of Fairdoc, a platform that helps patients identify and dispute overpriced medical bills. By leveraging transparency laws like the No Surprises Act and pulling data from insurer-published machine-readable files, FairDoc compares what patients were charged against what should have been billed. Ethan developed the prototype using OCR technology, AWS infrastructure, and a custom-built data comparison pipeline. Fairdoc has received early grant funding and is moving toward a public launch. Before that, Ethan co-founded Autism Sanctuary, a nonprofit that offers outdoor wellness programming for autistic individuals, prioritizing nature-based experiences over screen-based therapies.Ethan'd approach is hands-on, fast-moving, and results-driven. Long-term, he’s focused on solving high-friction problems that affect real people, especially in areas where broken systems have become the norm.

Fairdoc helps people fight back against unfair medical bills.
We use real data to spot when you've been overcharged, then help you challenge it. Whether it's a surprise charge or a price that just seems way too high, Fairdoc gives you the tools to understand what you should have been charged and helps you negotiate a fairer price. Our mission is simple: make the healthcare billing system more transparent, more honest, and a lot less painful for regular people.
